International Students

At a university with a large number of international students, we really do have the world on our doorstep!

Globe Café

Globe Cafe Globe Café is a place organised by the CU for international students to come and make friends with other international students and students from this country. It is a really relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with very friendly people. Each week there is usually a theme. There are also a couple of non-themed nights so people can have a chance just to talk and find out abut each other. This year we've had cafe visitors from a whole number of countries; from Denmark to India, and China to Peru!

As it is run by the Christian Union there is an optional, informal discussion often included. This is for international students to get introduced to Christianity and the Bible if they want to.

Globe runs every fortnight on Friday nights in Fylde Coffee Shop from 7.30pm-9.30pm, unless stated otherwise below. It's a great opportunity to meet international students, befriend them and teach them something about the Christian gospel. This term, we've got the following events:

  • Lent Term events to be announced

For more details, please email globelancaster@hotmail.co.uk, speak to Sarah, or check out the Globe Facebook group.

For CU members

Globe Café is a unique opportunity to meet and share the gospel with international students, some of whom have never heard anything about Jesus. Anyone in the CU who is interested should come along on a Friday night and see for yourself. If you have friends from other countries and can bring them, that's wonderful, but don't worry if you don't - this is your chance to make some. We also have a weekly team meeting to plan and pray on Mondays from 1-2pm in the Anglican Chapel: please do feel free to come along.
