Coming to Lancaster University next September?

IMPORTANT: We've updated the fresher's week timetable, check it out now!
Welcome to Lancaster University from the Christian Union! We are really looking forward to meeting you and helping you to settle in to university life. Here is some information about the Christian Union that you might find helpful for Freshers' Week. Click here for a printable version of this page, to take with you to Lancaster. Also, check out the UCCF site for some cool stuff to help you prepare for life as a student.

Freshers' Week Events

There's plenty of opportunities to meet CU members during Freshers' Week. Here's our updated timetable:

Lunchbars

Lunchbars are designed to allow open-minded people to seriously engage with life's big questions. Each day, Maurice McCracken will give a 15-20 minute talk about a big topic of Christianity. There will be a chance to quiz the speaker afterwards. All this and free food too! If you're wondering why you should bother with Christianity at uni then come along!

After each lunchbar, there will be a chilled-out cafe allowing informal conversations to continue and for people to get to know each other a bit more

Meet Your College Reps

Each college has two CU reps that lead a weekly small group. Reps from your college will be at the cafe before and after the talk each day in the marquee, and will also be organising an event in the week to get to know their college so grab them in the marquee to find out what your college group will be up to.
For more details, see here or email Laura on collegegroup@lancscu.org.uk

International Students

If you are not from the UK, Lancaster CU would like to offer you a particularly warm welcome. International students are very welcome at any of our events, plus we also have a special 'All Nations' night at 7.30pm on Friday night hosted by our 'Globe' team: a great opportunity to make friends from Britain and around the world. Members of the Globe team will be around at all other events too. For more details, phone or text Sarah on 07719792797

Church Search

Getting involved in the life of a local church is one of the great things about being a Christian in Lancaster. There are several good churches in Lancaster, but to make it easier in finding a home, the CU will be hosting 'church searches'. These take place on the first three Sundays of term from 9am, and several students will give a short description of the churches they attend. You can then follow one of them along!

Other Events

There's a full CU programme running from Week 1 of term. Make sure you don't miss our central meetings (Tuesday nights, 7.30pm at Faraday Lecture Theatre, opposite Bowland College) where we'll be studying Colossians, enjoying Jesus' supremacy! Lunchbars also continue from Week 1 on Thursdays at 1pm, and college groups start on Thursday evenings.

Plus also don't miss BITESIZE - a five week informal course looking at the central claims of Christianity, designed for those who are not Christians, or Christians who want to look over the basics. This will run on Monday nights from 8pm in Fylde Coffee Shop. Ask your college rep for more details.
