Lancaster Churches
Being part of the Christian Union is no substitute for being involved in a local church congregation
during your time in Lancaster. We all benefit from belonging to a local church where we can both serve and be
supported. We'd therefore strongly encourage you to get involved!
Joshua Harris, in his book 'Stop Dating The Church', gives the following ten questions to help explore and
understand a church you are considering attending:
- Is this a church where God's Word, the Bible, is faithfully taught?
- Is this a church where sound doctrine matters?
- Is this a church in which the gospel is cherished and clearly proclaimed?
- Is this a church committed to reaching non-Christians with the gospel?
- Is this a church whose leaders are characterised by humility and integrity?
- Is this a church where people strive to live by God's Word?
- Is this a church where I can find and cultivate godly relationships?
- Is this a church where members are challenged to serve?
- Is this a church that is willing to kick me out [i.e. exercise proper church discipline]?
- Is this a church I am willing to join 'as is' with enthusiasm and faith in God?
For more details, see the website Stop Dating the
Church.Com.
Below is a list of churches that a lot of students attend, and a short description of what each church is like.
We hope you find it useful, and if you want more information, then don't hesitate to ask.

well as gaining a degree we want to help you to grow in your relationship with God, build quality
relationships and express God's love to those around you. Currently, we have around 30 students attending
each week. We look forward to seeing you.

Grace Baptist is an independent Baptist church. Our church building is in Skerton just over the bridge from the city centre. We believe that
God speaks to us through the Bible, and the message of the Bible is one of hope in a confused world. We feel this so strongly that we give
time in all of our services to straight-forward teaching from the Bible.

St Thomas' Church
Penny St, Lancaster.
Church office: 01524 62987.
Sunday services: 10:30am, 6:15pm and 9pm Late Evening Service.
http://www.st.tees.org.uk
|
St Thomas' is a lively evangelical church in the city centre. The 10:30 morning service is attended by a mixed congregation. The first Sunday
morning service of each month is a shorter all age service. At our 6:15 service we gather to worship and try to engage with Scripture and
relevant issues to help develop our Christian life. The Late Evening Service (LES) runs from 9pm. It is attended mainly by students and young
people, though all are welcome to come along. It has an "alternative", more informal feel than our other services, often including other
methods of communications. As with the rest of our services, the aim of the LES is to enable everyone present to engage with God.
